RISING Australian star Luke Arnold has scored the coveted role to play Michael Hutchence in the much anticipated INXS mini series.
It is understood Shine has cast the actor to play the charismatic rocker in Never Tear Us Apart which will screen on Seven later this year.
Arnold bears an uncanny resemblance to Hutchence.
The two-parter will lift the veil on many of the untold stories of the band's career and the singer's life, including a motorcycle accident which irrevocably changed his personality.
Shine and Seven have the full cooperation of the surviving band members and their manager Chris Murphy who are anxious to tell their side of INXS.
Arnold was most recently cast to star in the Michael Bay's blockbuster pirate drama Black Sails which was filmed in Cape Town.
Arnold plays a young Long John Silver in the movie which is fashioned as a sequel to the book Treasure Island.
The WAAPA graduate has been a regular on our television screens and best known for his roles in Rush and McLeod's Daughters.
Filming of Never Tear Us Apart is expected to begin within the next two months and it will be the only project sanctioned by the band members to use their extensive music catalogue.
Hutchence was voted the fourth best Australian singer of all time in this week's News Limited poll of country's finest voices.
