SIR Richard Branson is looking for an Australian Virgin.

The British entrepreneur put the call out to find the woman who starred as the model for the original Virgin logo in 1970.

''The model in the image appeared again and again as the logo evolved, starting off in our mail order record service when I was 20 years old. It was still present when we launched Virgin Records in 1973,'' Branson posted on his blog.

''However, we have sadly lost track of her. We think she is now living in Australia, and would love to track her down.''

Branson and his team are keen to reunite with the logo model as Virgin Records celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The label's first release on May 25 in 1973 was the iconic Tubular Bells record by Mike Oldfield.

''Of course, she may not want a picture without her clothes on anymore! But it would be great to do another photo shoot four decades on,'' he wrote.

Do you know the Virgin model?
