SCARFACE, Rambo and the Terminator have lost their deadly menace after having their weaponry Photoshopped out and replaced with a cheeky thumbs-up.
Named after shooting enthusiast magazine Guns & Ammo, the British-based blog Thumbs & Ammo was set-up as a joke by a group of friends who enjoyed remixing Hollywood movie posters.
Now an internet smash drawing contributions from around the world, the blog features action heroes, criminals and psychopaths looking surprisingly harmless with guns replaced by the positive thumbs-up hand gesture.
Stars featured include Mel Gibson as Mad Max, Bruce Willis in Die Hard and Michael Douglas in Falling Down.
The blog's tongue-in-cheek concept has particularly resonated in the United States, where gun laws are being reviewed by politicians after the Newtown massacre.
