QUEENSLAND'S The Voice contestant Luke Kennedy has shot to the top of the iTunes charts with his single from Sunday night's show.

His rendition of Time To Say Goodbye from Sunday night's showdown episode entered the charts in the top 10 and steadily crept up to number one overnight.

It is the first time this year a contestant on the show has topped the iTunes charts.

Single sales are important for the contestants because each download counts as two votes for them to progress through to the competition.

His nearest competitor in the charts is Melbourne jazz singer Emma Pask who is sitting at number with her version of Mas Que Nada.

Voting closes tonight at 6pm, eligible downloads are only counted until noon today.

James Walker and Jac Stone, Queensland's other two contestants, also performed on Sunday night but their singles failed to make an impact on the charts

They will find out their fate in tomorrow night's live results show.
