RIHANNA has infuriated fans by arriving on stage three hours late.

The Barbados-born singer had been due to play in Boston in March, but had to put the show on hold as she had laryngitis.

She rescheduled her Diamonds World Tour show for Monday evening, but left fans less than impressed when she didn't take to the stage on time.

There was no warm-up act in place, meaning many audience members waited for three hours. Twitter was soon awash with furious comments about the 25-year-old's behaviour.

"Boston waited 2 months and then Rihanna was 3 hours late to her packed concert. She deserved to get booed! We were mad as hell" (sic), one guest wrote.

Another fumed: "rihanna just showed up over three hours late in Boston for a make up show since she canceled a few months back due to sickness. Im over her" (sic).

Rihanna's camp haven't given any reason for her tardy behaviour.

She was seen at a basketball match in New York City over the weekend, leading some fans to claim the sport was more important to her than putting on a show.

"@rihanna 2-3 hrs late for your show in Boston, huh??! #disrespectful #noexcuse basketball was more important huh?? Don't come back" (sic), one wrote on Twitter.

The singer seemed oblivious to the frustrations some of the audience were feeling. After leaving the stage she used Instagram to thank people for watching.

"#BOSTON I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!! Thank you for making it extra special!! #DWT" (sic) she wrote.

The superstar has experienced a turbulent time in her private life lately, with her on/off boyfriend Chris Brown recently confirming they are no longer together in an interview.

LIVING legend William Shatner talks about seven-year-old critics, Star Trek throwbacks and what he's up to now.

1. HE'S DOWN WITH SEVEN-YEAR-OLDS

Shatner took his granddaughter to dinner before his animated movie Escape From Planet Earth, in which he voices the baddie. "I said, 'How'd you like the meal?' She said, 'It's a medium yum'. After the movie I said, 'How'd you like the movie?' 'It was a big yum!' It was a great critique from somebody who knows."

2. IMPRESSIVE? 'I THOUGHT SO'

Seth MacFarlane had to "argue" to get Shatner back into his Star Trek gear for their Oscars sketch. "But I got into the suit and the belt buckled in the same hole as it did 15-20 years ago." As for the sketch: "It needed work when it was presented to me. They did the work and it turned out to be really amusing."

3. SHATNER TURNED 82 LAST WEEK

And he's still blindingly busy. "I'm writing an album, I'm working on a new book, trying to sell a series and a movie, two new puppies are coming ... and that's an adventure when you have two dogs already ... "

NBN roll out delayed by three months

NBN Co has announced a three month delay in the rollout of fibre optic cable.

In a press conference this afternoon NBN CEO Mike Quigley explained that its construction partners had not been "mobilising boots on the ground at a fast enough local level to meet their own forecasts".

Mr Quigley said the three month delay was a "short term issue" and would not affect the long term delivery of the NBN. The completion forecast of June 2021 is still on target, he said. He also said the delay would not affect revenue at this point.

When asked whether the delay brought the NBN dangerously close to the September election, and if it was concerned about completing the rollout in time for what is looking like an inevitable Liberal victory, Mr Quigley told news.com.au that it could only keep plugging away.

"To be honest, we just have a job to do which is given to us by the government and we are executing on that job, he said."

"We're trying to make sure we don't get distracted by anything else that is going on.

"We are going to keep looking ahead until the government instructs us to do otherwise."

The NBN announced it has taken over the Northern Territory rollout directly to ensure a rapid rollout of fibre to premises, and allow Syntheo to focus on rollouts in WA and SA.

The NT takeover will see the creation of 200 jobs in the Northern Territory during the peak of the rolluot, Mr Quigley said.

The press conference took place just half an hour before the leadership spill, leading some to question whether it was a cynically motivated move to bury the bad news.

But Mr Quigley denied this, saying though it was “reasonable” for people to be cynical, the answer was “no”.

“We had a board meeting scheduled today,” he said. “The board had to approve the forecasting. It’s a major event.”

“I notice the press was in fact full of predictions of this release being imminent.

“I can assure you the events taken place today have no connection to the process we were going through at all. I think there is enough rumour out there in the media there shouldn't have been any surprise that we came out to day with the announcement.”
