FACEBOOK is about to become a hell of a lot more annoying.

The social network is testing a feature for iPhones that nags you to post a status update.

Bijan Sabet, general partner at venture capital firm Spark Capital was one of the first to notice it, tweeting a screenshot of his iphone homescreen with a Facebook reminder that read: "Bijan, tell friends what's on your mind. Post an update".

Sabet had just one thing to say about this: "Seriously?"

A Facebook spokesperson said the feature was a "small test we're running".

The new test comes about four years after it began annoying users by nagging people to connect with people they haven't communicated with in a while. Needless to say the first time Facebook tried this it went down like a tonne of bricks.

But it wasn't enough to dissuade them. Facebook has also been annoying Android users to download the latest update of its app.

Shut it down, immediately.
